Mardi Gras is a holiday that’s well-known and celebrated across the US state of Louisiana.

This year, celebrations were more subdued in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic.

The Associated Press (AP) reported that coronavirus caused state authorities to hit the brakes on crowded balls and street parades that drew thousands to the city of New Orleans every year.

But New Orleanians have come up with socially distant ways to celebrate, the wire service reports.

Australian Madisson Ball was living in Louisiana in 2020.

She speaks to Louisiana native Brionna Long to find out more about the traditional holiday.
