Dr Kerryn Phelps, the Independent who won a by-election in the inner-Sydney seat of Wentworth after Malcolm Turnbull was ousted as Prime Minister, has conceded defeat.

Dr Phelps thanked her staff and volunteers during a media conference in Steyne Park, Double Bay.

Saturday’s Federal Election saw the seat return to the Liberals, with Dave Sharma to be the electorate’s new MP.
