Size me up: The need for women’s tailored football boots
The major sports shoe companies do not make football boots for female feet. This increases the risk for injuries in female players.
The number of women playing football has surged at both the grassroots and elite levels, but many girls and women still wear boots designed for children or men. Over time this can lead to problem feet and injuries. To understand what it’s like trying to find boots that fit, we met players from Watsonia Heights FC and Melbourne Amazons FC and found that a possible solution is in the pipeline thanks to a Melbourne startup venture.
