Bacteria eating viruses offer hope against antibiotic resistance
Australians are prescribed antibiotics at rates that are double those of some European countries – but some forms of bacteria have evolved, so that antibiotics are becoming increasingly ineffective against them.
Microbiologist Beau Patrick conducts research on bacteriophage – that’s a treatment being tested that can do what antibiotics can’t and fight drug-resistant infection.
He spoke to Jasper Woodcock.
