Hate crimes against people of Asian origin have risen sharply around the world – in the United States, the words of former president Donald Trump have fuelled racism and violence against Asian Americans.
Meanwhile, anti-Asian racism is one of a number of types of hate which have been on the increase in Australia.
Civil engineering student and restaurant worker Quang Nguyen gives a personal account of life during COVID-19 as a first-generation Asian Australian.
