Producer Jaya Balendra, who co-created the Exposed franchise with journalist Caro Meldrum-Hanna, answers students’ questions in the Media and Communications Newsroom press conference about the filming and investigation of the tragic fire at Sydney’s Luna Park in 1979.

The fire burned down the ghost train ride, resulting in the deaths of six boys and a man. Now, 42 years after the tragic event, the series of three episodes that mix first-hand accounts with dramatic recreation and effective visual techniques, has led to calls for a new inquest and a reopening of the investigation.

The episodes were based on materials collected by child survivor Jason Holman and renowned Australian artist Martin Sharp, who was convinced the fire was not an accident.
