Democracy’s Watchdogs’ student award, 2021

Democracys+Watchdogs+student+award%2C+2021

Journalism students – if you have done any in-depth or investigative stories this year, I would encourage you to enter Democracy’s Watchdogs’ award for investigative journalism. The award deadline is fast approaching!

The deadline is timed so that you can incorporate any feedback on your assignments into your story, improve the quality of the story as best you can and then enter the award using this link. Of course, you can enter any other work you have done, as long as it was created in 2021.

Apart from the bragging rights that come with winning an award judged by some of Australia’s most experienced journalists, there are two prizes of $1000 each plus a trophy for the winners and a certificate for the finalists. Then, meet the judges over lunch (only if you want to).

The award categories are for the best written print or online story and for the best video or audio story. Individual and group entries will be accepted. Stories must be original, reveal information that is in the public interest, adhere to normal journalistic attribution and comply with the MEAA code of ethics

The DEADLINE is: midnight November 5.
