Hockey Club Melbourne begins long road back
After a successful inaugural season in 2019, Australia’s rebranded domestic hockey competition Hockey One was hit with COVID-caused interruptions.
Most states around the country have had – at worst – partly stalled seasons through 2020 and 2021.
But lockdowns meant Victoria has only had about 10 rounds of games two years.
The lack of competition puts Hockey Club Melbourne at a disadvantage – which was proven by Victoria’s poor junior level results throughout 2022.
The state’s also had a number of officials on an international pathway, but their careers have stalled over the last two years, as Lachlan Avil reports.
